Our Story

iFungi began with a simple belief: if you’re going to create a mushroom supplement, you should do it properly.

From a family rooted in both British Columbia and Ontario, those roots helped shape the values behind the company — respect for nature, hard work, honesty, and a refusal to cut corners. Long before iFungi became a brand, there was already a deep appreciation for what mushrooms represent: resilience, balance, and the remarkable way they support life in nature and in the body.

As the family looked deeper into the mushroom industry, especially in British Columbia where so many mushrooms are grown, something kept bothering them. Many growers were using grain-based substrates because they were easier, faster, and cheaper to scale. But many of the most respected functional mushrooms — lion’s mane, reishi, shiitake, and maitake — are naturally wood-loving species. In the wild, they thrive on hardwood, not grain.

That mattered. The family wasn’t interested in building just another mushroom product. They wanted to build one around quality from the ground up, and that starts with what the mushroom is fed. For wood-loving species, hardwood is their natural food source. It supports the kind of growth these mushrooms were designed for, and it connects to one of the most valued compounds in functional mushrooms: beta-glucans.

That realization became part of the foundation of iFungi.

If the company was going to stand for something, it had to stand for doing mushrooms the right way — not the easy way. That meant focusing on mushrooms grown the way nature intended, using fruiting bodies where precision and potency matter most, and creating products with clear purpose rather than chasing trends.

iFungi was never about hype. It was about building a North American Wellness company on better standards — one that respects both tradition and science, and gives people confidence in what they’re taking every day.
